बीमा पूल प्रशासकिय कार्यविधि (नियमित गर्ने) ऐन २०१३ को दफा २ ले दिएको अधिकार प्रयोग गरि वि सं २०६०/०६/३१ सालमा जोखिम समुहको पुनर्बीमा गर्नका लागि रु १० करोडको बीज राशिबाट आकस्मिक बीमा कोषको स्थापना भएको थियो। उक्त आकस्मिक बीमा कोषलाई नेपाल पुनर्बीमा कम्पनी लिमिटेडमा परिणत गर्ने मन्त्रिपरिषद्को मिति २०७१/०४/२१ को निर्णयानुसार नेपाल पुनर्बीमा कम्पनी लिमिटेड कम्पनी रजिष्टरको कार्यालयमा मिति २०७१/०७/२१ मा दर्ता भई विधिवत रुपमा स्थापना भएको हो। नेपाल पुनर्बीमा कम्पनी लिमिटेड नेपालको पहिलो पुनर्बीमा कम्पनी हो। यस कम्पनीका १८ वटा शेयर सदस्य रहेका छन् जसमा नेपाल सरकार तथा नेपालमा रहेका १७ वटा निर्जिवन बीमा कम्पनीहरु रहेका छन्।
